The City View Spot

Writer's picture: Kareena RajaniKareena Rajani

The tale of a girl who doesn’t like to cross the bridge when she gets to it. She likes to climb to the top and take in the view. And then turn around and go back home. The story of someone who enjoys to connect but is afraid to attach. Enjoy.

Every day that flies by

I look around and see

The ghosts in the city

Silhouettes all around me

Walking on so fast,

Moving day after day

It’s simply touch and go

Souls with veils of gray

But sometimes, somehow

A traveler stops by

Just a regular evening

A small moon in the sky

Two shadows sit atop

The city sprawls below

The world races on

But their moment feels slow

Poems, scars and city lights

They thought the same way

Maybe there’s magic

In the nights of Bombay

The evening that they share

From a stranger to the sea

The silence and the words

Seemed so meant to be

A glimpse in the rush

Of a stranger eye to eye

A face in a masked world

Even if just passing by

The beauty of a connection

Though fleeting it might be

A moment of encounter

In cosmic eternity

The mystery of it all

Just two people and a while

But I think it’s safe to say

That evening made me smile.
